Carbon Footprint Reduction
Jan Briddhi Foundation is actively working towards reducing carbon emissions at the grassroots level through sustainable, school-based initiatives. As part of our commitment to climate action and environmental responsibility, we have launched a Carbon Footprint Reduction Program focused on building green, self-reliant food systems within government schools in Assam.
This program addresses food sustainability, carbon offset, and climate education in an integrated way making it one of the first of its kind in the region.
Meal Replacement Program
At the heart of this initiative is our Meal Replacement Program, where we transform school campuses into spaces of sustainability and self-reliance.
Key Components:
- Kitchen gardens are developed within school premises using local, organic methods.
- These gardens grow seasonal, plant-based ingredients that are used in the school’s midday meals, replacing items sourced from distant markets.
- By reducing the dependency on transported and processed food, the program significantly cuts down the carbon emissions associated with food logistics and packaging.
This plant-based approach not only promotes better health among students but also contributes to long-term carbon offset goals.

The best time to cut carbon was yesterday. The next best time is now.
