Flood relief in Assam: first on the ground, last to leave

Every monsoon, rivers in Barpeta and Bajali overflow into homes, fields and roads. When families are pushed into relief camps, we bring food, clean water and the basics of hygiene and dignity.

Why it matters

A familiar crisis, every year.

Floods in Assam don't only destroy homes. Families lose livestock and crops, and spend days in camps without enough food, safe water or sanitation. In June 2022, journalists reported from Medhikuchi village in Bajali, where more than 35 houses were washed away.
