About Jan Briddhi Foundation

Jan Briddhi means the growth of people. We are a grassroots not-for-profit from Bajali, Assam, founded by Anupam Kakati and Tridip Das to answer the needs they saw around them.

Mission

To empower underprivileged children and communities through education, sustainable living and timely relief, turning potential into opportunity.

Vision

To become India’s most trusted and preferred NGO partner for individuals, companies, government and institutions.

Our journey

From volunteers to four programmes.

What began as weekend coaching and tree planting is now a registered foundation with four programmes.

  1. Volunteers at work

The founders and fellow volunteers run free coaching for NMMSE, JNVST and government jobs, and plant trees in Bajali and Sorbhog.

  2. Flood relief

Relief for 750+ flood-affected families in Bajali.

  3. Registered

Jan Briddhi Foundation registers as a Section 8 not-for-profit company.

  4. Tree plantation drive

250+ trees planted in three phases through crowdfunding.

  5. Puhor launches

Book distribution at six brick-kiln centres; Mohalla Classes begin.

  6. Floating Libraries

The first Floating Libraries, with Pratham Books.

  7. Relief and results

Flood relief for 200+ families; JNVST coaching helps 7 students into JNV.

  8. Food and You 2.0

A session with Samayu that becomes the Green Plate Initiative.

  9. Green Plate begins

5,112 meals replaced across 15 institutions.

  10. Scaling up

17,023 meals, 9 school MoUs and 4 APP Clubs; NearBlood opens NGO onboarding.

Our values

How we work.

01

Start where the need is greatest

Brick-kiln camps, flood-hit villages and rural schools come first.

02

Measure honestly, year by year

Achievements reported every year, nothing double-counted.

03

Respect local culture and choices

Change that fits how people live and eat.

04

Work with the community

Volunteers, schools and local partners lead the work with us.
